COVID-Safe

We’ve made some changes to the way we operate so that we can continue to provide our services to all families in a safe way while helping prevent the spread of illness and COVID 19. These changes have been made in direct consultation with the ACT Government and adhere to current ACT Public Health Directions.

The following policy was last updated on the 3/7/2020, is subject to change as the situation evolves and effectively immediately until further notice.

Studio attendance

The number of persons that may attend our indoor business premises equates to 1 person per 4 square meters of our available floor space where unassisted social distancing and personal hygiene can be maintained.

  • 2 parents and 1 baby (from one household) may attend the full duration of studio sessions
  • Up to 2 siblings may attend the final 15 minutes of the session for family photos only
  • You must stay at home if symptomatic of any illness no matter how minor you feel it is. You should contact us with a minimum of 24 hours notice and we will reschedule your session with no financial loss.
  • Your photographer will make arrangements to reschedule a session if the photographer is unwell.
  • You must stay at home and not attend if you’ve been instructed to isolate or quarantine are in close contact with someone who is symptomatic of illness (no matter how minor), in close contact with a confirmed case of COVID19 or are exempt from the 14 day mandatory quarantine period for international travelers
  • You must stay at home and contact us to reschedule if you have visited COVID hot-spots within 14 days of the session date.
  • You must stay at home and contact us to reschedule if you have had close contact (more than 15 minutes face to face) with persons from identified COVID hot-spots

Hand hygiene

It is a requirement that employees wash their hands in soapy water and apply hand sanitizer frequently during indoor studio sessions. We require the same of everyone entering our premises.

  • Hand washing in soapy water followed by the application of hand sanitizer after using the bathroom, before entering the premises and before leaving the premises.
  • Application of hand sanitizer immediately coughing, sneezing, touching the face and after touching personal items.
  • Parents are responsible for ensuring children practice good hand hygiene
  • Gloves are to be worn by employees when cleaning up bodily fluids during newborn sessions.

Respiratory hygiene

It is a requirement that employees and clients practice good respiratory hygiene.

  • Coughing or sneezing into the crook of the arm followed by hand hygiene using sanitizer or soapy water.
  • Parents are responsible for ensuring children are capable of and practice good respiratory hygiene
  • Parents and Children must be well and not be symptomatic of coughs, runny noses or any other form transmittable illness.  The photographer reserves the right to immediately terminate the session should anyone arrive ill.

Sanitizing props

  • Soft props (wraps, blankets, posing pillows, prop layers, beanies) are washed after each client and line dried in the sun.
  • Hard props are wiped down in soapy water and sprayed in a hospital grade disinfectant after each client.
  • Props that can’t be washed in the conventional way (handmade curly wool felted layers, flokati rugs, furs, backdrops, hair flowers) gently steamed and aired outdoors.

Cleaning the studio between clients

  • High use touch points are cleaned after every client (light switches, door knobs, posing stools, newborn posing bag, surfaces near the client seating area).
  • Floors are vacuumed (HEPA filter) and shelves wiped.
  • The entrance door and walls near the client seating area are cleaned after each client.
  • Bins are changed and washed.
  • Soft props are not left in studio on open display and are stored appropriately.

Siblings

  • Provided siblings are well and are capable of practicing good respiratory and hand hygiene, we welcome a maximum of 2 siblings in the last 15 minutes of the session specifically for family photos.  Capacity is based on one person per four square meters, exposure time in an enclosed space and the provision of 1.5 meters distancing from the photographer.  This is not a change to the way we operate. Welcoming siblings at the end of sessions allows us to focus on capturing newborns at their sleepiest and to maintain a safe environment conducive to newborn photography.  It further allows vigilance in tracing touch points that require cleaning between clients.  This is the perfect amount of time to capture family connection and a reflection of a child’s span of enthusiasm to participate.
  • Parents are responsible for ensuring children maintain good hand and respiratory hygiene
  • Parents are responsible for supervising children at all times and restricting their movement in the studio to the area in which children are to be photographed.
  • Siblings must not arrive before the time specified by the Photographer

Additional preventative measures

  • A health risk assessment and temperature check is required prior to entering the studio
  • Persons presenting with symptoms of illness will not be permitted to enter the studio
  • While a mask is not necessary if you are well, we do ask that clients wear one if entering our private residence to use the rest room.
  • Touch-up’s to make-up and hair can be done in studio and the photographer will provide privacy should you need to change or would like privacy when breastfeeding.
  • Shoes are to be removed before entering the studio or our private residence.
  • Non-essential items from home should not be brought into the studio.
  • Phones must be wiped down before entering the studio
  • We are a low volume business and do not book more than one studio session per day.
  • While a mask is not necessary, the Photographer may wear a 3 ply surgical mask by choice or if requested by a Client.
  • Gloves are worn by the photographer when changing a nappy or cleaning up body fluids.
  • The photographer frequently practices good hand hygiene throughout the session regularly applying hand sanitizer.
  • 1.5 meters is visually marked on the floor. Parents are responsible for ensuring children maintain a 1.5 meter distance from the Photographer.
  • Siblings may attend in the last 15 minutes of the session specifically for sibling photos and one family photo
  • ACT Public Health information is clearly displayed in our studio.
  • Online training in COVID 19 infection control has been undertaken.

Outdoor family photography, outdoor cake smash photography and outdoor maternity photography

FAQ’s

Q: Now that more people can be indoors together can I bring grandparents, aunts and uncles to our newborn session

A: Newborn sessions are for immediate family (mum, dad, siblings).  We do not meet the space requirements to provide social distancing indoors for larger gatherings and are approaching with caution.
